Completed inquiries: Nattapon Praicharoen 2016

Mon: A Visual Exploration the Everyday Life of Mon Immigrants in Sangkhlaburi by Nattapon Praicharoen (Thailand)

This research project investigates and explores everyday lives of the Mon immigrants in
Sangkhlaburi. It illustrates how the Mons live their lives in the society that has denied their
access to opportunities and how they adjust themselves to survive. One particular boy was
selected because of his difficult choice of surviving – jumping off the Mon Bridge for
money.  A practice-based approach was used to investigate and involved making enquiries and
recording everyday life of this boy to develop a rich and thick visual picture of his everyday life.
The project combined an ethnographic approachto research and combined documentary photography with artistic experimentation.
