  3. I see the relationship between the ownership and power. In the first painting, the “long gun” in the man’s arm signifies the power of the masculine, ‘power of control’—control his huge land, a large number of animals, and of course the woman. For the second image, the “helicopter” works similarly through their sense of ‘prices’ and ‘choices’. The copter is a costly vehicle, he (they?) could choose to travel from a place to another with ‘less time consuming’ than bicycle, motorcycle, or car. It means that money can save time and worth. And it likes, the helicopter speaks out loud for him, “if he could owns a copter, others will be a trifle”. I think both show sense of power, the first is power of control, second is more about the money. However, these two images remind me of what Ammar Siamwalla said (about the accessibility of hospital service for the difference classes), “the rich use money, the autocrat use connection, and the poor use time” to exchange oneself need.

But beside that notion, I am thinking about role of woman in the second photograph…Hmm…Was her role the same with the woman in the first painting? I hope it wasn’t :)
