Abstract form afford pleasurable interaction
(26/03/14)

Last week, the inquiry of size and proportion has put in to the concern, which are, how it work and how people interact with it. There are new 6 set of abstract form 1st and 2nd set are all similar proportion but smaller than the previous set(the one that exhibition in checkpoint). The 3rd set has similar size to the 1st and 2nd set but has several different proportion in one set. The 4th and the 5th set are smallest, the different between these two sets is the proportion of the 5th set has no similar. The last one 6th set has the size and proportion similar to the 1st and 2nd set but different at the form, it transform from the sphere rather than the other that have transformed from the cube.
After show these sets to people, the smallest set has the most impact for draw attention and to remind myself the research subject in the room mostly female, the cute character has mentioned for the smaller size. In term of different proportions of individual piece in one set give more invitation to play with it than the set that have the similar proportion, the supported evidence is people start to be more play when someone start to bring the different set and proportion to mix to create symbolic picture.

From my point of view, In term of the size of 1st, 2nd and 3rd is quit proper to see and afford to play with the form than the smallest one, but in the sense of psychology the smallest size, it give more challenge and ask the question to the research subject(remind my self, young adult female subject at that times) and the different of proportion give more invitation to play with.
Next move, I’m thinking of to do more larger scale the people can’t use on hand to operate to see what happen, but still concern of the time and evaluate is it worth to do it or Is it out of my frame.

  1. I wonder what will happen when it becomes larger: to sit, to stand on, to lie down, or to create interaction between people (to sitting together, to play together). I think it will be more pleasure if many people interact with it together(one sculpture per two or three users)
