Pete's Reflection 01

Through my project I want to explore the potential of surrealist methods to discuss on politics in contemporary Thailand.

The surrealist methods include game, participation, collage, montage and juxtaposition. The visual works are in two and three dimensional.

exquisite corpse game
This week I try to be playful with the game "Exquisite Corpse" (one of the surrealist game) but each part was fixed by the word within the context and one of the work are on processing into painting.

Several months ago I watched a film called Adaptation and a feature about connection between Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace. They talk about creature that maintained and evolved by natural selection. Afterwards, I had a meal with three of my friends. We ordered one bottle of coke. But one bottle is just for two people. So I teased one of them by filling tea in another glass and put the empty bottle of soft drink beside it. Definitely, he did not notice until he drank it. From those experience, it makes me consider about the link among the words adaptation, object and environment/surrounding. And this is the question after I attempted to organize my thought...

"What are behind the function reconstructing of non-living thing in different environment?"

These are visual exploration supporting the work and help me explain the method. The image include same bottle of shower gel that change the function in difference environment.

Furthermore, I intend to participate with provincials in the game to explore more about politics in contemporary Thailand.
